Toshiba R500 - Thin beyond Thin

This computer’s claim to fame is the world’s thinnest widescreen 12.1″ notebook. unlike other ultra portable laptops, it actually includes and optical drive. It weighs in at 1.72 without the optical drive and under 2.5lbs with the optical drive. Check out the video on notebookreview.com and see how flexible the screen is. There is also a pretty good review on it as well.

iriver clix gen 2

Here is iriver’s answer to the Apple iPod. Though it does not include a scroll wheel, it does include a click-screen intereface that was used in the previous clix. It comes in three flavors: 2Gb, 4GB and 8GB. Though it may have a slightly smaller screen than the video iPod, it does have the same resolution, which will make it look sharper. Those of you that have a bunch of AAC files from iTunes, this little player supports it them as long as it is DRM-free.

PSP Refreshed

As suspected, Sony has announced its newer and thinner PSP. It still has a 4.3″ LCD screen and still uses UMD, but it is 33% lighter, 19% slimmer, faster loading times and an impressive video output. They have improved on the two things that disappointed me in the past, the weight and the video output, so it might be time for me to pick up the PSP again.

Old iBook gets a new beggining

I recently picked up an ibook to serve as parts to fix a few other ibooks I have in my possession. This ibook had that dreaded logic board problem, where the screen would go in and out but other than that the logic board was in good condition. After stripping it apart and putting the combo drive into one ibook and using the screen in another, I wondered what i could do with the rest of it. And after an hour or so on the net, I found whats was going to be my next project–Chaos>>DIYiBook Server.
